What to Wear to the Derby

The attire you choose to wear to the Kentucky Derby is arguable the most important decision you’ll make in all of May. Men and women alike go all out for this event, and your outfit should be no exception.

Dress: Floral Print/Bold Colors

Playsuit

Florence Playsuit- Cream –  I opted for a solid romper for the Kentucky Oaks. This outfit was so playful and unique; perfect for the occasion. It is currently sold out, but a restock alert is available on Thirty One Boutique.

Floral Dress 1

ASOS PETITE Bow Off Shoulder Midi Dress in Floral Print – For Derby Day, I went with a subtle floral print dress that hit just below the knee. The length made it conservative for the occasion, but the bow-off the shoulder accent brought it to life and updated the timeless print.

Hat: The Bigger the Better

Hat 1
Hat 2

housewifeshats offered the biggest bang for my buck. I ordered both of my hats on the company’s page through Etsy and was highly impressed with the quality of their work. I quickly found that these specialty hats are no small purchase, so to find a quality product within my budget was a win in my book.

Shoes: Comfort over fashion

Shoes

Women’s Faux Suede Houston Sandal – I snagged these right before hitting the road to Kentucky. They were on sale for $25 and can be used as a versatile heel down the road with numerous outfits. However, I would air on the side of caution when choosing your shoes. It is a long way with A LOT of walking involved, so make sure you are comfortable in the shoes you decide to wear.

Put it all together (and add in a dapper man) and you’re ready to go bet on some ponies.
